No trapping is permitted. Lovely State Park with easy walking paths to the amazing view of the Falls. The effects of the drought were playing a part in the waterfall, as the flow was not very large/strong. Boat Launch Site not suitable for any type of sailboat.

With a drop of 215 feet (66 meters), it's 33 feet higher than Niagara Falls, but with a much smaller volume of water. The hike in was about a mile one way, and had basically no incline or hills.
It’s also $8 to get in and park your car, since it’s a state park. Keep to the right except to pass. The view from the overlook (top of the hill )was breathtaking where you can simply drive up the hill and park. Didn't make...The falls are spectacular whether viewed from the overlook high on the side of the gorge or from the base of the falls after a walk in on the access trail.

There are places on the hike in/out that you can hop off the trail and let the kids or dogs go wade in the water to cool off. Some parts of the trails are very steep. The waterfall is accessible from a parking lot across the main road from the waterfront but the lot is small and it will fill up fast. Highlights of Taughannock Falls State Park: Taughannock Falls is the tallest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi. Signs will be posted at all parks during hunting season to notify patrons of this activity. Definitely a must see, but be prepared for a lengthy walk.I spent a few hours hiking around the rims of the falls and river.
