Some things out of this world. The story is mundane, but as images move one to another, we are pulled into its beauty. you don't know this and you will never know it so much.
There are only so many metaphors I can handle. What differs "Yozhik v tumane" from the typical American/Japanese animations is that it could be described as artistic poetry which definitely is not for everyone. This would have been fine if the message of the story was that though the village was wealthy in money they were poor in life, or something of the sort, but in that case I feel as if the pied piper and the uninvolved fisherman should have been of a different, more vibrant pallet. Every other animal in the short averts this trope. We're in the clouds. Sure, many explanations and definitions and opinions about art.
The scenes seem connected through a variety of overarching themes, a few being war, (WWII), World in the fog can be mysterious. As he travels into a valley, the fog is soon so thick that Hedgehog loses his way. The ending is contemplative and thought-provoking, if perhaps ever so slightly abrupt. Also where did they get all the dead rats anyways? To be honest, I found this more inscrutable than insightful. It was fairly amusing and I am glad that they didn't make the transformations instantaneous (both for comprehensions sake and for visual effect). However, to an outsider who saw it for the first time in his 40s, I did not have the same perspective and wasn't the least bit in love with the film. This clever little short features a hedgehog on his way to visit a friend, only to get caught in the fog and get a sinister feel for the animals in his vicinity. But where is a great idea in Shrek? I would say that this is a pretty solid film in terms of pretty much every aspect: the narration, the story and the animation. It was made 40 years ago and is possibly the most famous short film by movie maker Yuriy Norshteyn. See it - you might discover something new about yourself. This is a touching little story about a kid lost in the dark alone and trying to get out of it. This film is very popular in Russia and in the world. Another interesting film, that felt more like a visual experience than an actual story.
