Zero's Beam Saber, aka the Z-Saber.I guess theoretically you could, but it's not technologically possible to scale it down that far in any Gundam setting. If it's asking which has utility, then its the lightsaber, seeing as a lightsaber can be carried by a person not equipped with a giant robot. I mean, they fit so nicely.

On the other hand not everyone can get their hands on a working giant robot AND afford the maintenance costs. In that case it's the beam saber, because even a relatively small saber, like that used by the V2 Gundam, can totally engulf a person's body. Topics not covered in other forums. But I don't think you can say one is better than the other, as they fill completely different roles.Well, I think you're making a jump about MS beam sabers.

The size difference is obviously a huge part of it (Pun not intended Your comparing things on two vastly different scales, not to mention very different universes, which could also add other properties to this theoretical issue. Beamsabers have occasionally been scaled down to human size in certain Gundam AUs. I always figured Jedi would just pilot Mobile Suits. This thread is pretty obscure. I mean, is it asking which is more dangerous? That is all. I mean, is it asking which is more dangerous?

Unless the beamsaber comes with it's own giant robot for you to pilot, lightsaber all the way.

Beam sabers also have a tendency to visually flicker like a flame, which implies a certain lack of coherency compared to the uniformity in the lightsaber beams. Beam sabers can be blocked by anti-beam shields and other beams; light sabers by Cortosis and other light sabers. NO POLITICS OR RELIGION.me and my friend are debating on which one is stronger, longer beam, more efficient and etc.I explained that to him and he showed me a diagram of a light saber's components and he pointed out the beam length and power strength adjuster but he doesn't get that a beam saber is bigger than the classroom that we were in.We're regularly shown that beam sabers need to recharge (or need an external power source), and I don't recall lightsabers ever needing recharged. )Indeed, Big B is right in, while the two devices do have some similarites, when you get into the guys of it all, there are simply too many differences between the two to allow them to really be compared.

They could replace the Jedi Starfighter or something, or give them a mobile suit with a movable frame. What about a beam saber for infantry ?

In that case it's the beam saber, because even a relatively small saber, like that used by the V2 Gundam, can totally engulf a person's body. Only they'd probably run out of battery at some point and you might end up cooking yourself.Isn't the heat contained inside the saber's magnetic field ? But if you're in a giant robot, the beam saber has more utility.

They don't make things explode, but they do set off a chain reaction whenever the cut triggers something combustible (which seem to be any number of things.

Look, if I had a choice between a lightsaber and a beam saber, and someone said 'PS the beam saber comes with a mobile suit' then my decision is already made.

A beamsaber is just a big honking piece of metal and silicone that would only be useful to take cover behind while you devise a plan on how to take your enemies down with your sweet lightsaber.
