I think maybe if I had read this as a teenager or younger it may have struck a chord with me, but I don't really see any great insight or wisdom in it that I haven't already seen in less saccharine forms in casual reads of Eastern philosophy or pop science. It doesn't necessarily shatter previous notions, but it does show them in a new light.I remember this going around the internet when I was 17 or 18 (I'm almost 26 now) and finding it incredible!

It was a perspective on life that I'd never considered. Some folks suggested I do an AMA. It's so inspiring that Weir has done so well from writing what is essentially a meme to having a successful Hollywood blockbuster made of his first novel. It is our intent and purpose to foster and encourage in-depth discussion about all things related to books, authors, genres, or publishing in a safe, supportive environment. But did you also realize yet that you've only had sex with yourself?It had that same exact effect on me. Long before there was a movie, I read 'The Martian' by Andy Weir. I only discovered Weir through The Martian. And thanks for the many emails I got about the story. It's just that when being with people I now assume "The Egg" as reality. I was born and raised in church every Sunday and Wednesday.
