We had a wonderful day walking along the canal toward Batheaston up to Little Solsbury Hill.
It is located above the village of Batheaston in Somerset, England. I don't often get right to the top, but the views are wonderful.No eagles, but we did see a buzzard! 8:00am - Sun 27th September 2020 Stunning Little Solsbury Hill & Wetlands Nature Reserve Little Solsbury Hill (more commonly known as Solsbury Hill) is a small flat-topped hill and the site of an Iron Age hill fort. The hill rises to 625 feet (191 m) above the River Avon, which is just over 1 mile (2 km) to the south, and gives views of the city of Bath and the surrounding area. The top of the hill (altitude 191m, 625 feet) is owned and managed by the National Trust and offers views back towards Bath and the surrounding countryside.
We then visit a beautiful wetland nature reserve before returning to the pretty village of Batheaston.There is 3 hours free car parking at the Riverside car park or alternatively there is a pay car park behind the George & Dragon in Batheaston 3 miles (5.5 km) This circular walk climbs this small hill made famous by the Peter Gabriel song 'Solsbury Hill'. From the end of the lane a footpath took me to the trig, from where it was a short walk across the pasture to the summit. I then completed a circuit of the ramparts of the hill fort and enjoyed the excellent views. No cafes/ pubs en route though there are pubs in Marshfield at the end of the walk.
