The ACT Government is working to ensure the economic recovery of the ACT and surrounding regions through a comprehensive economic response to the COVID 19 pandemic.To do this, we need to work together with Canberrans to create job opportunities for those that need it and support local businesses through this difficult time.The Jobs for Canberrans Fund was established in April 2020 to provide employment opportunities for people in the casual or semi-skilled workforce who lost their jobs or have been significantly impacted due to COVID-19.In June, the Fund was expanded to offer additional opportunities for job seekers bringing the number of people employed through the Fund to over 450 peopleJobs have been made available for people who had relied on casual work and were not eligible for the Australian Government’s wage subsidy scheme or other support.Roles have minimal pre-requisites and can be undertaken in a manner that is compliant with public health directions.The ACT Government will continue to work with businesses, employee representatives and community services organisations to target those people most in need.To be eligible to apply for roles, people must have lost their job, or have been significantly impacted as a result of COVID-19.Roles will be made available to people most in need.
