The descriptions of India were fantastic -- moody and atmospheric, it was the best description I've ever seen of someone entering the underworld. In the most crime-ridden city, nightmares become real and evil is defined by frightening occurrences. Maybe I've missed discussions about this book in the past. Not so good as Drood but very well written crap.
Everything is broken, everything dirty, crushing in around the reader, disorientating and claustrophobic. This book deserves a 5 star.
