Amblin-esque.

There's this one shot, almost seven seconds long... [that] is just a huge pair of breasts, up close, in slow-mo, bouncing "hilariously" on camera. Please enter your email address and we will email you a new password.

We're doing everything practically, which is great.

I now want to thank Gillian Smith, Tamar Teifeld, producers Sean Robin and Betsey Sullenger, makeup man Tony Gardner, as well as director Chris Landon and stars Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller and Joe Morgan for being nothing short of gracious, cordial and accommodating to this here schmoe. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse fails to live up to its intriguingly wacky title, instead delivering yet another zombie comedy-thriller with a tired T&A twist. And so ultimately, I don't care if they live or die. I was never made to forget that these people are immature, sex-crazed caricatures. But it's gonna be really funny and cool and really scary and something you haven't seen before.Sean: it gets really fun.

Which is one of the reasons we loved bringing Chris in because he loves the genre so much and he has a genuine enthusiasm for what we're doing here. Because of that, I can't really recommend it, unless you know what you're getting yourself into.

And that, my friends, is how my set visit to Paramount's SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE went down. Its also pretty dumb in places which is no surprise, the guys manage to get a hold of a flippin' Humvee at one point, probably the ultimate vehicle to have during this type of apocalypse, yet they don't really utilise it. It's really old-school but fresh as you can get.

They ditched Augie during a camping trip to go to a secret senior party. As horror, "Scouts Guide" is too frivolous to thrill.

I hope we're allowed to keep it in.Betsy: David Koechner.

Again, I don't wanna say it's lazy, but it relies on the typical sex comedy cliches. I mean, when we brought Chris Landon on, his sensibility, we made a conscientious decision that, you know, I think the audience for this film really wants to see the gore and they want to see the fun.

So expect lots and lots of blood and gore as the small team go around shooting zombies in the head, cutting heads off blah blah blah...you all know. Of course the peak of these zom-coms is Shaun of the Dead, and Zombieland if you're looking for just American movies, I don't actually count Evil Dead 2 as part of that genre, but I can see how people would put it in there.

Because if anyone's gonna stop the zombie apocalypse, it's gonna be our kids.

Literally the very last line of the entire movie made me laugh, that was the first time I'd laughed too.

Chris had a very specific idea of how our zombies would move. I've never heard of these three guys that play the characters but I enjoyed their camaraderie and hijinks. I will say, though, that the gore in the movie does look excellent. I remember how scary it is, but it's really funny.Sean: GREMLINS is another one that we'd talk about.Betsy: GREMLINS is another one. It totally has that cheesy, tacky, low rent, B-movie vibe in the title alone, on one hand that does help the movie because you instantly know what to expect, on the other it can also hinder the movie because its yet another low rent, B-movie zombie flick, and there's a shit-tonne of those around. The cast is solid enough, of course, but there's never that feeling that they're actually lifelong friends. Anyway this sequence doesn't really do anything original but what it does is really effective and quite funny to boot. 6.4.

Genres.

I have moaned quite a bit about the obvious cliches and unoriginal content strewn throughout this movie, this is true. We've really gone out there on a lot of different aspects. You can't believe she's 88 years old.

Because you look at something like POLTERGEIST, which I recently re-watched and I forgot.

But, honestly, I'm really struggling to remember a lot from this movie, other than a lot of teen boys screaming like teen girls. All the while a whitecoat lab technician is trying to get some crisps out of a vending machine, whilst the horror plays out behind him through an internal window. So that's one of the things that makes it fun and unique and different.Betsy: But Cloris Leechman as the crazy cat-lady who lives next door to Carter is pretty genius. nsfw.
